Replace Your Gold SASSA Card with the Postbank Black Card

From around April 2026, customers who still use a Gold SASSA Card can replace it with the Postbank Black Card at Postbank sites. This ensures you continue receiving your grant smoothly and securely.

More than 1.4 million beneficiaries have already switched.

Why this change is important

Postbank is committed to simple, accessible, and reliable banking. Replacing your SASSA Gold Card protects your access to your money.

Important: If it does not say Postbank, it is not a Postbank Black Card.

What you need to do

Bring your valid South African ID to a Postbank retail site. Replacement is quick and simple.

Debit Order Dispute Enhancements

Important update for debit order payers

If a debit order goes off your account without your permission or is processed incorrectly, you have the right to raise a dispute with your bank. Until now, debit order payers have had up to 365 days to request a dispute.

What’s Changing?

From 13 April 2026, the dispute window will be updated.

You will now have:

Up to 60 calendar days from the day after a successful debit order to request a dispute — up to and including the 60th day.

What This Means for You

You will still be able to dispute debit orders, but only within the new 60-day period. This change ensures faster resolution and improved accuracy in managing debit order queries.

Why This Change is Happening

The change is part of a new rule approved by the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) and the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA).

The goal is to improve fairness and create a balanced process for both debit order payers and collectors.

When Will This Change Take Effect?

The updated dispute rules come into effect on 13 April 2026.
